Torre di Babele offers the opportunity to combine Italian classes with restoration and decorative art courses, in partnership with specialised institutes such as “Lignarius” (Centre for art, crafts and restoration in the centre of Rome). Italian lessons with take place in the creative atmosphere of the Torre di Babele school, where classes are formed of up to 12 students from around the world.

Restoration

Furniture restoration (beginning and second level courses), relief carving, gilding and French polishing, restoration and gilding of objects (frames, lacquered objects).

Courses are offered September through July, primarily in the afternoon, from 2 weeks to 4 months or more.

Decorative painting courses

Decorative painting (trompe l'oeil, faux marble, wood graining, grisaille, restoration techniques), mosaic, stained and leaded glass, art glass (second level: Tiffany, glass collage, mosaic). Courses are offered September through July, primarily in the afternoon, from 2 weeks to 4 months or more.

Successful participation in the restoration and decorative arts courses requires previous knowledge of the Italian language, sufficient to follow the lessons and directions given by the instructors. Prior completion of at least a basic Italian course is thus essential.
