LANGUAGE AND DESIGN EXPERIENCE:
DESIGN SPEAKS ITALIAN

An intensive Italian language course in Rome for lovers of design, fashion, graphic arts, film, and photography. Torre di Babele, in collaboration with "IED Rome", offers a three week full immersion course in Italian language and style, in the world capital of art, crossroads of culture and thriving cosmopolitan city. Beyond studying the language, participants get an insider’s view of a range of creative disciplines from film and photography to visual arts, fashion and architecture. The program covers design theory and planning, with visits to advertising agencies, design firms and fashion studios.

ITALIAN LANGUAGE COURSE

The first two weeks of the program includes Italian language classes, 4 lessons daily. On the first day participants are given an oral and written test to place them at the appropriate level, from beginner to advanced. Classes are made up of a maximum of 12 students from countries around the world. Instructors are specialized in the teaching of Italian as a second language, using a direct communicative method encouraging students to actively practice the language. Particular emphasis is given to conversation skills, allowing students to express themselves and interact in Italian from the very first day of the course.

CULTURAL PROGRAM

Throughout the course, participants are involved in a rich and varied cultural experience offered through the “Torre di Babele” center. Participation in the program is free of charge, other than expenses for food, drinks, transportation and entrances to museums and architectural sites.

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation is available in single rooms in private apartments with local residents (singles, couples, some families). Bath and kitchen are shared. All apartments are centrally located, within easy access to public
transportation. On request, double rooms can be arranged in private homes, as well as accommodations in bed and breakfasts or hotels. Arrival and check in for accommodation is the Sunday before the first day of the course and departure is on Saturday following the end of the course.

80 (40 lessons Italian language; 40 lessons design)

Schedule:

• Language classes: Monday through Friday mornings
• Design: Monday through Friday afternoons during the first two weeks; mornings the third week.

Enrollment fee: 25 €
The enrolment fee includes: extra-curricular activities, teaching material, a certificate of course completion and “Tandem” service. (*the enrollment fee is included in the complete package price)

Tandem Service
Free of charge, the school offers an inter-linguistic exchange program with Italians, so students can practice and improve their Italian outside the school.
