Success” at the different levels of our on-line tests (Level 1 to 5) corresponds to the language skills described under the Common European Framework for Languages (CEF):

CEF level A1: You can understand and use typical everyday expressions and very basic phrases for accomplishing your needs. You can introduce yourself and others and ask and answer questions about personal details.

A2: You can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas such as family, work, shopping and directions. You can deal with most situations while travelling in Italy and can describe aspects of your personal background and environment.

B1: You can understand the main points of clear standard input on family matters, work, school and leisure. You can deal with most situations that might arise while travelling and can describe experiences, events, hopes, ambitions and projects.

B2: You can understand the main ideas of complex texts on concrete and abstract topics in your own field, and can interact with others readily without straining. At this level you can also produce clear written texts on a range of subjects, noting advantages and disadvantages of different options.  

C1: You can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts and express yourself fluently without much obvious searching for expressions. You can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes, and can produce clear, well-structured texts on complex subjects, showing control of patterns and connectors.
